Gettin’ Fit Update

On Wednesday, I had my second health assessment. If you remember, I have been trying to stick to a diet full of good foods and exercise regularly in the mornings before work. I would say that I’ve been fairly successful: I have not been super strict about what I have been eating (I still eat at Chipotle every Friday), yet I have stuck to the diet for the majority of my meals. The same can be said for exercise: while I have worked out harder and more consistently at other times in my life, I’m in the gym more often than not on weekdays with an occasional splash of basketball.

So, here are the results of the 2nd assessment:

Pretty good - since the goal is to lose fat and gain muscle. So, I’ve done just that. 2 inches have disappeared from my waist, yet no one except my belt is missing them because my pants fit and feel noticeably better. This is because I’ve lost 5 pounds of fat. Also, my blood pressure has dropped into the excellent range.

Ideally, I’d like to gain a little more muscle. Previously, I stated that I wanted to go under 15% body fat and I should be able to do that by the next assessment, which will be the week of July 7. I will actually need to start consuming more calories by either adding an additional meal during the day or increasing the sizes of a few of my existing meals to keep up the progress. The hardest part about this diet is actually keeping up with the eating – I have never eaten this much food in my life!

I couldn’t say it any better myself, young sir. This is a true representation of someone who is all about them self, and nothing but them self. Look at it this way “Joesnake”, your a loser, eat my shorts.

  2. Joe Says:

Well Walt, I knew I was going to take some shit for posting these updates on my blog. I have to just laugh at your comment- my post does seem pretty self-centered and narcissistic. However, I don’t want to get into shape at the expense of my personal relationships - I’ve been enjoying working out in the mornings and deepening my relationship with my friend Wonder. I feel like my diet has afforded me more energy to be productive and make the most out of the day. Thanks for the comment - as always, feel free to read (or not read) again.

  3. lbeech Says:

    Hey Joe,

This Walter Cronchart - Is he related to the infamous journalist - Walter Cronkite?

  4. wonder Says:

wow, what anomosity there walt. you probably sit at home wishing you had a friend to work out with or do anything with for that matter. by the way have you seen any of the statistics about the obesity of americans. i wish i would take the time write blogs and such like joe here. joe is an average american guy and he is having some success at taking care of his body (which IS good stewardship). walt, you being captain negative would never see joe’s sharing of success as a positive motivater to anyone else. someone reading this blog could see that well if joe can do it so can i. i also know joe well enouggh that if someone asked for help or pointers on dieting or proper normal excercise he would certainly help. joe also pointed out that this working out and dieting is at no expense of any relationships, responsibilities or ministries. hey walt you are probably just jealous that the original joe snake can pack so much into the day, be fit and successful at setting and achieving goals while deepening other relationships and staying healthy.

    cheers walt.
    p.s.
you might try encouraging someone sometimes especialy when they do something good. you may end up with more friends then just your mother.

  5. Walter Cronchart Says:

That was really mean “wonder”. My mom is quite the good friend.
But I apologize for being such a douche.
And maybe should too, you bloke.

  6. Gozer the Keymaster Says:

I think Walter is really Elly, considering the poor grammar-style.

  7. Indre Says:

No it’s not Elli, it’s definately a guy. Only guys use the word “douche”, and the phrase “eat my shorts”.

  8. lbeech Says:

  9. Gozer the Keymaster Says:

  10. b Says:

How could you even accuse me of such madness?!? I do have bad grammar in blog-world but note that i have recently been elected the editors position for the editorial section of out school newspaper. So i must say, i am NOT that bad. I take offense to that.
